Information
Features
- Motive Power Grid Design: Specially reinforced thick internal plates designed to withstand intense, repetitive daily deep-cycling.
- Optimized 170Ah Capacity: Offers massive energy storage and exceptional reserve time for long-term fleet or off-grid endurance.
- Superior Overcharge Tolerance: Flooded design is highly resilient to high-voltage solar conditioning and equalisation charges.
- Flexible Bank Architecture: Easily linked in series to build high-capacity 24V, 32V, or 48V banks to match your specific system needs.
- Vibration-Resistant Casing: Heavy-walled, commercial-grade polypropylene case protects against harsh Kiwi terrain, tracks, and turf.
- Industry-Standard 8V Footprint: Traditional group size ensures a seamless, drop-in replacement for existing commercial golf buggies and utility vehicles.
Specifications
- Brand: Bosch
- Model: 8-170
- Voltage: 8V
- Nominal Capacity (C20): 170Ah
- Battery Type: Flooded / Vented Deep Cycle Lead-Acid
- Terminal Type: Heavy-Duty Dual Fitment (Standard Stud & Automotive Post compatible)
- Dimensions (Approx.): 260mm (L) x 181mm (W) x 279mm (H) (Note: Please verify physical footprint before final installation enclosure design).
- Weight: Approx. 29.0kg
- Charging Profile: Select "Flooded", "Wet Cell", or "Deep Cycle" (Do NOT use AGM or Gel settings, as they charge at lower voltages that cause acid layering).
- Recommended Charging Current: A bulk charging current between 17A and 42A (10% to 25% of the Ah capacity) is ideal to promote proper electrolyte mixing.
- Bulk/Absorption Voltage: 9.6V – 9.9V per battery (e.g., 28.8V – 29.7V for a 24V bank / 57.6V – 59.4V for a 48V bank at 25°C).
- Float Voltage: 8.8V – 9.0V per battery (e.g., 26.4V – 27.0V for a 24V bank / 52.8V – 54.0V for a 48V bank at 25°C).
- Equalisation Charge: Perform a periodic controlled overcharge (equalisation) according to your solar controller or fleet charger instructions to balance cells and prevent sulfation.
- Check Fluid Levels Monthly: Because it is a flooded battery, liquid will naturally evaporate during heavy charging. Regularly check the cell levels and top them up strictly with distilled water—never use tap water or top up with raw acid.
- Water After Charging: Always top up fluid levels after a full charge is complete, unless the internal lead plates are completely exposed, in which case add just enough distilled water to submerge the plates before plugging it in.
- Ventilation is Mandatory: Flooded batteries vent small amounts of hydrogen gas during heavy recharging cycles. Always install them in a well-ventilated enclosure and never inside airtight vehicle passenger cabins.
- Avoid Leaving Discharged: Recharge the battery immediately after use. Leaving a flooded battery in a flat or deeply discharged state will quickly lead to permanent sulfation and capacity loss.
- Keep Terminals Clean: Periodically check that terminal connections are tight. Coat them with terminal grease or petroleum jelly to prevent corrosion and high-resistance contact points.
