    • The Reality: You can safely drain them to 50% capacity. If you buy a 100Ah AGM battery, you have 50Ah of usable power before you need to recharge.

Don't guess your power needs and end up stuck in the dark. Battery capacity is measured in Amp-Hours (Ah). Think of Ah like the size of your fuel tank. Follow these three steps to find your size:
  1. List Your Gear: Write down everything you run on 12V (e.g., Fridge, LED lights, water pump, phone chargers). 
  2. Calculate Daily Amps: Multiply the item's current draw (Amps) by the hours it runs per day.
    • Example: A portable fridge drawing 2 Amps running for 24 hours uses 48Ah per day.
    • Example: LED lights drawing 1 Amp running for 4 hours use 4Ah per day.
    • Total Daily Power Needed = 52Ah.
  3. Apply the Safety Buffer:
    • If buying Lithium, you need a battery close to your daily total (e.g., a 60Ah to 100Ah battery).
    • If buying AGM, you must double your daily total so you don't drop below the 50% limit (e.g., a 100Ah to 120Ah battery).
