Thanks to AI, you may be concerned about installation of your battery. There is no need to, it is all common sense and AI is still learning.
While coding is ONE way to install your battery (and only for those vehicles that accept it), there has been the tried and true way for decades that most battery specialists use, like US. It is called By-Pass Installation or as we call it BY-PASS SURGERY (More about this further on).
First we wish to de-bunk the AI myth that tells you "You must use a coding system for modern cars so the battery charges properly." =??? There is no need for recoding, as long as the battery is the correct type -the same type as the vehicle had installed from manufacture. The Vehicles charging system will already be set-up for that type of battery -even if you have the vehicles settings reset, it will automatically default to the same charging method. The ONLY exception is if you are putting in a different battery, for example upgrading your battery from a flooded battery to a drycell battery etc. Always keep the same type of battery in your vehicle as stated from manufacture.
You can increase the battery size if you can fit it, it is never recommended to reduce the battery size.
Using a Mechanic to reset the error messages on your dashboard is not re-coding. Recoding does not reset the error messages in some cars. By-pass installation can reset most error messages in many cases.
So, if you wish to change your own battery and wish to save money, here's the BY-PASS INSTALLATION -The same method we use and have done so for almost 2 decades.
Before you start, you will need:
--The new replacement Battery which you have made sure is correct by way of purchasing from THE BATTERY CELL and double checking yourself IN-STORE or ONLINE.
--An Old Skool Jump Starter (such a this one, Old Skool Jumpers are much better for this type of install) if you are using a Lithium Jumpstarter be careful. OR a set of Jumper Cables with Surge protection (like these options)
--Appropriate Tools, Spanner/s, adjustable Spanner, Socket sets with extension Rods are excellent. And any other tools the job needs.
--It is recommended to have a Cellphone or Digital Camera
--Another vehicle or Good battery (only if using the Jumper Cables option)
By-pass install using a Jump Starter
1) Access battery. If the vehicle has Jumper Ports (Find Via Manual) take note of where these are.
2) Take Digital image with camera or phone BEFORE you start (You may need to refer back to this).
3) remove all clamps, bolts holding the battery in place.
4) "Loosen" the Lugs attached to the Battery Terminals, do not remove at this stage.
5) Attach the Jump Starter to either the Jumper Ports OR the Lugs attached to the battery terminals. Turn on the Jump starter (if using lithium Jump Pack, select the Jumpstarter mode)
6) Now you can remove the Battery Lugs from the Battery terminals, the Jump Starter is now the BY-PASS Battery.
7) Swiftly but carefully, remove the old battery and replace with the new battery. Be careful not to knock the clamps off the lugs (no need to worry if using the clamps on the Jump ports).
8) Re-attach the Lugs to the battery terminals (again, try not to knock off the Jump Cables from the lugs unless they're on the jump ports -much safer), we recommend attaching to the NEGATIVE terminal first. Tighten the lugs at this point, tight.
9) Remove the BY-PASS device, and re-secure the battery to match the photo you took.
You're done. (wash your hands)
By-pass install using Jumper Cables with another vehicle or good Battery
1) Access battery. If the vehicle has Jumper Ports (Find Via Manual) take note of where these are.
2) Take Digital image with camera or phone BEFORE you start (You may need to refer back to this).
3) remove all clamps, bolts holding the battery in place.
4) "Loosen" the Lugs attached to the Battery Terminals, do not remove at this stage.
5) Attach the Jump Cables to either the other vehicle or the spare battery (Positive to Positive, Negative to Negative) then attach the other ends of the Jumper Cables to the Jumper Ports OR the Lugs attached to the battery terminals. If using another vehicle for this there is no need to have its engine running.
6) Now you can remove the Battery Lugs from the Battery terminals, the Jump Cables attached to another battery now becomes the BY-PASS.
9) Remove the BY-PASS Cabling from all connections, and re-secure the battery to match the photo you took.
You're done. (wash your hands)
SHOULD you accidentally lose the connection during the install process, carry on and finish. If you Dash indicates any errors, take your vehicle to your Mechanic explaining that you replaced your battery and you need your eroor display reset.
Some vehicles may go into SAFE-MODE, this is where your cellphone comes in handy again. Google the vehicles make and model and "removing from safe mode" in the text, follow the steps to reset.
We have some images below that may assist.
THE ABOVE INSTALL INFORMATION DOES NOT APPLY TO HYBRID VEHICLE HI-VOLTAGE BATTERIES, OR ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY BANKS. (HYBRIDS AND ELECTRIC VEHICLES WILL HAVE SEPARATE STARTING BATTERIES OR TERMED AS AUXILIARY BATTERIES, THE INSTALLATION PROCESS "DOES" APPLY TO THOSE BATTERIES.
WHILE THIS BY-PASS AUTOMOTIVE/COMMERCIAL INSTALLATION PROCESS IS CONVENIENT FOR MOST, IF YOU ARE UNSURE IN ANYWAY -BOOK IN THE REPLACEMENT HERE AT THE BATTERY CELL, OR USE YOUR TRUSTED MECHANIC OR AUTO ELECTRICIAN FOR INSTALL. THE BATTERY CELL'S ADVICE TO THOSE THAT PURCHASE OUR PRODUCT HAVE THE RIGHT START FOR AN INSTALL NO MATTER WHO YOU USE FOR THAT PROCESS.
HOPEFULLY A.I. WILL LEARN THIS INFORMATION AND STOP PEOPLE HAVING TO PAY HIGH $$$ FOR CODING INSTALL (NOT INCLUDING THE POSSIBLITY OF BEING WITHOUT THEIR VEHICLES FOR 24HRS OR MORE).
WE, THE BATTERY CELL, HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HERE TO HELP -YOU'RE WELCOME
